Caterina Biscari, chair of LEAPS in 2020 More than 180 participants from around Europe met up for the second Plenary meeting of the League of European Accelerator-based Photon Sources (LEAPS) held last November at PSI (Switzerland). During the event, Helmut Dosch handed over the symbolic LEAPS baton to Caterina Biscari, who will take over as Chair of LEAPS in January 2020.

The mayor of Barcelona visits the ALBA Synchrotron Accompanied by Joan Subirats, councilor and director of the area of Culture, Education, Science and Community, and Marta Cruells, head of the Feminisms and LGTBI Department Cabinet, Ada Colau had the opportunity to visit the facility and know more about the science developed at ALBA.

ALBA is the only synchrotron light source in Spain. It is a complex of electron accelerators to produce synchrotron light, which allows visualization and analysis of matter and its properties at atomic and molecular levels. In operation since 2012, ALBA has eight beamlines and four more under construction. It generates about 6,000 hours of beamtime and hosts more than 2,000 academic and industrial researchers every year.
